On arrival, guests will be received at the airport by JASH Representative. Drive to your hotel in Thimphu. After refreshing and having lunch, visit Kuensel Phodrang the world’s largest sitting Buddha statue (167 feet high) overlooking Thimphu Valley. Explore Motithang Takin Preserve, a forested area home to Bhutan’s national animal, the Takin, along with musk deer and barking deer. Later, visit Tashichho Dzong, a Buddhist monastery cum fortress, seat of the Royal Government and Central Monk Body. Overnight stay at Thimphu.
Post breakfast, visit the Immigration Office to extend your permit for Punakha. Explore Jungshi Handmade Paper Factory, the Folk Heritage Museum, Memorial Chorten, and Changangkha Lhakhang a 12th century temple overlooking Thimphu valley with the main statue of Chenrizig. Overnight stay at Thimphu.
After breakfast, drive towards Punakha, stopping at Dochula Pass (3,100 m) for panoramic Himalayan views and 108 Chortens. Visit Lobesa village and Chimi Lhakhang (Temple of Fertility). Continue to Punakha Dzong, located at the confluence of Mo Chhu and Po Chhu Rivers, home to sacred relics of the Drukpa Kagyu School of Buddhism and annual Punakha Tshechu Festival. Overnight stay at Punakha.
Drive back towards Dochula Pass and then to Paro. Post lunch, visit Tamchog Lhakhang, a temple dedicated to 13th-century saint Thangthong Gyalpo, and cross the historic iron chain bridge. Visit Ta Dzong (National Museum) with antiquities, thangkas, murals, and artifacts reflecting Bhutanese culture. Overnight stay at Paro.
Early breakfast and drive to the base of Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest), a sacred site where Guru Padmasambhava meditated. The hike is about 2 hours with tea and lunch points along the way. Later, visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest temples in Bhutan, dating back to the 7th century. Overnight stay at Paro.
After breakfast, transfer to Paro (PBH) Airport for your onward journey.
